This week, Lawbreakers developer Boss Key Productions released Radical Heights, a brand new battle royale game that is now available in early access. Radical Heights is the developer’s answer to Fortnite Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the two battle royale games that have found huge success over the last year. However, while the Radical Heights team would certainly love to reach similar levels of success as those games, they may not have intended their game to experience similar glitches.
Like those other battle royale games, Radical Heights‘ map is also decorated with various bits of foliage. While the game’s bushes do make it much easier for players to hide, Polygon reports that Radical Heights currently has a clipping issue that allows players to go completely invisible while standing in a bush.
Not all of the bushes in the new game will let players hide in them and sometimes players will see that their characters’ limbs are protruding. But using this bush glitch still gives players an advantage, letting them take out unsuspecting opponents as they run past their (accidental) hiding spot.
The glitch is similar to Fortnite‘s bushes, which players can hide in but not go completely invisible in. The bush became such a popular hiding place, in fact, that developer Epic Games eventually made the bush an equippable item that players could find in the world. Most recently, Fortnite players have been dealing with environment pop-in, which sees bushes pop up out of nowhere.
Radical Heights is very much a game in early access, so much so that developer Boss Key Productions is using the game’s “jank” as a selling point in posts on social media. The developer has also revealed that the game is a “passion project” that was created in just five months as Lawbreakers struggled to be successful. As such, it is to be expected that the game is having a bit of a rocky time and this bush glitch is far from the only technical issue.
But the true test will be in how quickly Boss Key is able to address these technical issues and make the key changes that Radical Heights players are asking for. The developer was able to act quickly in order to change the game’s Founder’s Pack following pay to win concerns, but will the team be able to sort the bush glitch (and the other bugs) in a similarly speedy manner? Glitches could prevent the game from being a success, making it even more important that the Radical Heights team can issue a fix soon.
Radical Heights is now available in early access on PC.
