The Division 2 has been flooded with agents roaming the streets of Washington ever since the game launched earlier this week, and all of them are slowly developing their own styles and looks. This weekend, a Redditor named Riproarin999 discovered a hidden side mission in The Division 2, and the reward for completing it is a full outfit called the Retro Field Outfit. Featuring an old-style military cap and some vintage garments, it’s a nice reward that few other agents seem to have.
In order to secure the exclusive garments, gamers first need to find an NPC to trigger the hidden mission itself. To do so, gamers need head southeast of the Navy Hill control point, rounding the curved street corner towards a building near SHD Tech. This building features a fairly nondescript door with lockers and a manhole within it, and players who venture down this manhole will run into an NPC. Talking to the NPC will trigger this hidden side mission, the reward being the Retro Field Outfit.
The Retro Field Outfit is a full outfit, so it replaces all clothing currently equipped by the player, except for any equipped backpacks which will still be shown. It also makes any equipped body armor invisible, a purely cosmetic touch so that players can see as much of the outfit as possible. The quest itself is fairly short, so gamers looking to add some vintage flair to their agent’s wardrobe won’t need to set too much time aside if they’re familiar with the Navy Hill area.
Interestingly, completion of this hidden side mission does start a follow up quest, but this seems to fizzle out into nothing fairly quickly. There’s a small loot room as a reward for the followup, though it comes quite abruptly – it’s possible that there was more to come from this quest line, but it may not have made it into the final release of The Division 2. That being said, Ubisoft is still hard at work fixing bugs and preparing new content, so gamers looking for more old-school military items may be in luck later on.
There’s plenty of more extra content hidden around the post-pandemic streets of Washington, including a familiar-feeling hidden boss fight that will give players quite a challenge. Since The Division 2 has only been out for a few days, gamers should expect many more easter eggs and hidden gems to be uncovered as the next few weeks roll by.
The Division 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
