It has been known for some time now that reigning Raw Women’s champion Ronda Rousey would be voicing Sonya Blade in the forthcoming fighting game Mortal Kombat 11, but it doesn’t seem this new budding relationship between the WWE and the gory fighting game ends there. On February 17, the wrestling organization held its Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event that saw Daniel Bryan maintain his WWE championship and Rousey also successfully defend hers.
What’s notable about Ronda Rousey’s match, other than the win, was also her attire. Ditching her standard wrestling garb, she appeared at the event dressed similar to Sonya Blade. Not only did this build some hype behind the match that Rousey would go on to win, but it also helped build some more hype for Mortal Kombat 11.
After all, if rumors prove to be true, Rousey won’t be the only WWE star getting some time in on Mortal Kombat 11. A recent rumor making the rounds on the internet has suggested that fan-favorite John Cena could be voicing Stryker, but whether that proves to be true remains to be seen. Fans will luckily not need to wait long for confirmation, as MK11 is set to release in just a couple of months.
Because of its impending release, more and more news concerning Mortal Kombat 11 continues to surface. Jade, D’vorah, and Kabal have all been confirmed additions over the past few weeks, and this trend will likely continue up to release. Stryker has not made his way onto the confirmed list yet, but if he does, that’ll add some more suspense to the John Cena Rumor.

If nothing else, this John Cena rumor speaks to the strong fan connection between the WWE and Mortal Kombat 11. And the apparel of Rousey matching Sonya Blade’s continues to develop and maintain this likely profitable relationship, one that should grow thanks to big names like Rousey and Cena.
Mortal Kombat 11 launches April 23 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
